Sending Announcements

The Announcements feature can be used to send a message to all of the students in your course.  If you have multiple sections combined into a single course, note that messages sent using the Announcements feature will be sent to all sections.  Section-specific or student-specific messages can be sent using the Inbox feature, which is demonstrated later in this module.

Same content editor as previously demonstrated is used to create an announcementComplete the following steps to create an Announcement:

  1. Click Announcements in the course navigation menu.
  2. Click +Announcement.
  3. Enter a Title in the field provided.
  4. Type the message you wish to send in the field provided.  Note that you can also use the Insert Content menu to include links to course content in the message.
  5. If you wish to delay the posting, click the Delay posting checkbox and enter the specific date/time you want the message to be sent in the field that displays.
  6. Click Save.  If you did not select the option to delay the posting, the announcement is sent immediately.
