Assignment Groups & Weighted Grading

Setting up Assignment Groups allows you to better organize the different types of assignments you use in your course.  You can also use Assignment Groups to set up a "weighted" final course grade.

  1. Click Assignments in the course navigation menu.
  2. Click +Group.
  3. Enter the first Group Name in the field provided.  Note that until you've indicated that you will use "weighted" assignment groups, the % of total grade field is grayed out.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 until you've created all desired assignment groups.

  1. Click Assignments in the course navigation menu.

  2. Click the 3-vertical dots icon near the top of the page.

  3. Click the checkbox to indicate that you want to weight final grade based on assignment groups.
  4. Enter the percentage weights for each assignment group you've created.
  5. Click Save.
