6. Report employment and any changes to the International Center via our M-Passport portal Links to an external site.. Any updates to your employment should be reported to the International Center within 10 days of the change and prior to reaching the maximum 90 days of allowable unemployment days under post-completion OPT.
If employment information is not reported within 10 days of any change and 90 days of your EAD start date, you may be considered to be out of status which can result in the automatic termination of your F-1 SEVIS record, accrual of unlawful presence, and/or denial of future immigration benefits.
SEVP Portal
After you have been approved for OPT, the Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) may send you an e-mail to access your information on the SEVP portal. Please note that use of this portal is optional. You must still report any OPT employment changes via our M-Passport portal Links to an external site. and any address/phone changes in Wolverine Access Links to an external site.. Reporting through U-M will help ensure the accuracy of information reported to SEVIS and avoid a mismatch in information between the SEVIS and U-M systems.
