Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for OPT, the student must:

• Be in legal F-1 immigration status
• Be a full-time student in a degree-granting program for at least one academic year
• Have U-M approved health insurance

Note: You are not required to already have a job offer in order to apply for pre- and post-completion OPT.
