Introduction to Searching the Scientific Literature
The module will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. It focuses on basic searching techniques that can be used in any database. It also includes ungraded quizzes to test your understanding of the material.
Searching for Literature in PubMed
The module will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. This module builds on skills developed in the "Introduction to Searching Scientific Literature" module, showing how to use Boolean operators and synonyms in PubMed.

- Locate and effectively use index terms (MeSH Terms) for searching in PubMed.
- Understand the importance of subject-focused indexing terms and the Search Details option on the Advanced page.
- Learn to use some of the Advanced page features in PubMed appropriately.
- Understand the need to search iteratively, testing different search terms to get the most relevant results for your research project.

It also includes an ungraded quiz to test your understanding of the database.
