Metal Shop
The Metal Shop (rooms 1258B, 1262):
The Metal Shop is where you’ll go for all large metal fabrication, CNC Plasma Cutting, and small scale Water jet Cutting.

Equipment in the Hot Shop:

- Misc. Hand Tools
- Sand blaster
The Metal Shop is also home to the Foundry where you can do metal casting and forging and is where you'll find the oxy-acetylene torches. *Unfortunately metal casting is unavailable at this time*
Only STAMPS students and faculty who have attended an orientation can have access to the Metal Shop.
How to gain access:
Step 1: You MUST complete the Stamps Studio & General Safety Orientation
Step 2: Complete a Metal Shop Orientation (email kmagius@umich.edu to schedule)
Orientations happen on Friday's at 2:00pm and last around 2 hours. Participates are required to show up in proper PPE (closed-toe shoes, no lose or dangly clothing/accessories, hair tied back, and full-length pants) as proficiency training is required for access.
