Ceramics Studio

Enter the Ceramics Studio (rooms 1269) and discover everything you need to know about clays, glazes, moldmaking, kilns, and clay sculpture. It is home to 15 electric wheels, a kick wheel, and a large handbuilding space equipped with an extruders, a slab roller, and a digital 3D potter. Facilities also include a glaze room, a spray booth and eleven indoor kilns (including a digital Blaauw kiln), as well as outdoor kilns for pit and raku firings. Students work with multiple water-based clays in all firing ranges, all made here in the studio.

Some proficiencies are required along with the initial studio access orientation and signed form to use these tools:

Students must be enrolled in a course or have completed the required training to use this studio. Stamps students not enrolled in a class must pay a studio fee and complete the orientation for access. For after hours MCard access, fill out the Stamps After-Hours Access Form. Please note, all studios are only available to STAMPS students or those enrolled in a course pertaining to the requested studio. For all STAMPS students NOT in a ceramics class that would like to use the Ceramics studio, please see the following steps:

1. Please print this Studio Fee Form, fill out, bring to the Information Desk on the 2nd floor for payment, and return signed document to Hayden Richer (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oEGydXXKbrAfroAfufFdYNFfHQ2whVJL5yhg4jNqwvA/edit?usp=sharing Links to an external site.)

2. After paying the studio fee, please attend the Ceramics Studio Orientation, held at the beginning of each semester and every first Friday of the month at 10:00 am for the first half of the semester

3. Request MCard access via the After Hours Access Form above (Note* MCard Access with not be approved until you have either completed an orientation). Additionally, MCard Access will not be granted to students who have never taken/not currently enrolled in a Stamps Studio Ceramics course.
