Additional Web of Science Features

In addition to the information provided in the filter options on the search results page, you can find more information about a specific article by clicking on its title. This will take you to an article-specific database page, like this one:

Here you’ll find complete citation information for the article; an abstract, which provides an overview of the article’s contents; and some additional keywords, which you can click to launch a new Topic search for that word or phrase.

You’ll also see a Citation Network pane in the upper right of the page:

This feature allows you to investigate articles with a direct citation link to the current article, in two directions. Clicking on the “citations” number brings up a list of newer articles from Web of Science that have cited the current article as a reference (in some cases, this number may be zero, especially for recently-published articles. Clicking on the “cited references” number brings up a list of older publications which are cited by the current article. These features can be extremely useful in following the thread of a research effort by a person, lab, or community through time.
