Welcome to Vietnamese Placement Test at University of Michigan.

Instruction for Vietnamese Placement Test in July 2025 (July 10-31, 2025).

This is the information for the Vietnamese Placement Test in July 2025. If you can not make it in July, you can still sign up for the Placement tests in August, 2025.

Required steps to take Vietnamese Placement test in the Summer 2025:

1. Register at the Google Form: https://forms.gle/VHCz2d88Bw8ZVaC5A (Type your answers in Vietnamese as the proof that you can type in Vietnamese to be able to complete the written test)

2. Enroll in Canvas Viet Placement Test : https://umich.instructure.com/enroll/K6YD3A or https://umich.instructure.com/courses/211643

3. Submit the Oral Recording Assignment in Canvas https://umich.instructure.com/courses/211643/assignments/2370837 by July 8th, 2025 (this will prove that you can communicate in Vietnamese virtually via Canvas to complete the oral test)

You must complete this recording assignment BEFORE 11:59 pm on July 8, 2025 ! Anyone who turns in the recording will receive email about the Summer Placement Test in July 2025 (from July 10 to July 31). As long as you submit the survey and the required Oral recording assignment, you can sign up for the placement test in July or August at the your chosen time of availability.

EXPECTED PROFICIENCY: Every semester, students can register for a Vietnamese Placement Test that will determine a student's proficiency level within the language. If you would like to test out of four semesters of Vietnamese at University of Michigan, you need to take written and oral tests that prove you have proficiency in Vietnamese by anyone who has completed four semesters of Vietnamese at UM. Your Test may be assessed in the way that will place you in different Vietnamese classes at University of Michigan, based on the result of your test performance.

Important Placement Results Information

Exam results/placement are valid for only one year
- *Under special circumstances, retakes within this one year time frame may be permitted. Please contact the language director.

Retakes are only permitted after the placement results expire.*

It typically takes seven business days for your results to become available.
You will not be notified of your score automatically. You may view your placements via: Wolverine Access > Student Business > Academic Records > View Placement Exam Results.
