    Ethnography Lab, a year-long course meeting every other week, is for students from sociocultural anthropology, anthro-history, and related fields of inquiry. EthnoLab is for graduate students who have completed the fieldwork component of their research and are writing their dissertations to discuss both the common and distinctive features of their research, writing, and related issues, for the collective benefit of all. The focus of the class is on workshopping your writing and getting productive feedback. The instructor will also present helpful information about writing a dissertation and transitioning to the next phase of your academic career.

  • THEORY 430 001 FA 2017

    MT 430, Advanced Analysis of Tonal Music, further develops the ability to interpret tonal music based on concepts familiar from freshman- and sophomore-level music theory courses, as well as on new techniques. We will explore the characteristics of phrases during different periods (baroque, classic, romantic), as well as how phrases are coordinated to make the typical forms of each period. The repertoire includes vocal, keyboard, and ensemble music.
