BMW Vs Mercedes: The Battle Of Luxury Brands

Mercedes Benz has been the choice of car over a BMW and its growing popularity is becoming more common. The two cars are of course competing in the segment of luxury cars, but do they really have something extra that makes them more desirable? The price difference between these two luxury cars is not the only factor that helps make these two cars stand apart from each other. The two cars also differ in other important categories. Both cars have high performance engines and have a similar number of features.

The first thing people must consider before deciding between the two cars is how safe one is. Both cars come with excellent crash tests. BMW's safety record has improved steadily over the years, while the durability of Benz has been enhanced by adding the 'all-wheel drive' option. However, both cars come with airbags, traction control, seat belts and anti-lock brakes.

Another important factor that might tip the scales towards one of these cars is the traffic load you get on them. On long stretches, the size difference between the BMW and Benz can become significant. However, on short trips, the comfort and sophistication offered by these cars become apparent. Both cars, due to their distinct styling, provide an easy to drive and comfortable ride. You could get used to driving either of these comfortably.

The final component that helps decide which one of these is preferable is price. Both cars have similar pricing structures. For example, if you buy a specific model of the BMW, you would have to shell out a lot more money than you would have to do if you had bought a Mercedes-Benz. Considering this, the gap between the two is not as big as it might seem. This is especially true when the size difference is taken into consideration. If your budget is quite tight, you should go for a lower model of BMW.

However, this price difference problem does not just apply to the two major manufacturers. Many smaller car makers also offer great cars at lower prices. For example, you can get a great looking Ford Focus instead of the much higher priced BMW 3rd series. A Dodge Challenger can be had for half the price of the average BMW. Smaller cars also allow you to bring home a stylish, practical vehicle without paying as much as BMWs or Mercedes-Benz. However, the luxury the BMW and Mercedes Benz far outweighs what their competitors offer. Performance, engine, and overall engine make Mercedes Benz the number one choice for most people.

The third reason why people prefer the Mercedes Benz could also be related to their fuel efficiency. These cars consume less fuel than many luxury cars. In addition, they also offer higher levels of comfort as compared to their cousins. They are extremely reliable and, best of all, are safe to drive on the road.

Another reason Benz is chosen over the BMW could be due to the 2014 BMW 535d’s reliability. However, other than the recall once on this model, this BMW actually proves well in terms of reliability of a diesel engine. Some people question its reliability and whether or not it compares to the Mercedes Benz e350 model.

However, despite their virtues, these cars have their fair share of flaws. The biggest flaw of all is the size and heavy weight. They cannot be used on smooth roads as well as sloping ones. The engine power is not as powerful as the others. And due to its size, they need lots of space - at least four feet - in order to comfortably fit in a parking lot.

Despite their flaws, all in all, the Mercedes Benz is a reliable and a pretty good car to own. It can win most any race, and it will still do very well when driven by an experienced driver. You will get the best of both worlds with a Benz because you can take it on almost any terrain with relative ease. When you want to get somewhere fast, you can opt for their sporty models. The comfort and reliability of the Mercedes Benz, in addition to the well made engine make this brand a very top choice for most car buyers.
