Effect on OPT

There is no regulatory limit on either the number of times or the length of time a student may engage in part- or full-time CPT. However, cumulative use of full-time CPT for one year or more at the same degree level eliminates eligibility for OPT. Use of part-time CPT currently does not impact eligibility for OPT.
