The Structure of Research Articles

For this assignment you will be using the research article you found in the Evaluating the Research Article assignment. Remember that full-text access to an article you choose will be checked by the librarians, so make sure this is a full-text article (no abstract-level access only).

In addition, in this section you should have read Rachel Dunifon's article, "How to Read a Research Article Download "How to Read a Research Article

Provide complete sentences and answers to each of the following questions:

1. Using the SQ3R Method (linked as a PDF in this section of the module) in conjunction with your selected research article provide a synopsis of your article that is reflective of your own voice. Do not include quotes from the article. The synopsis should be entirely in your own words.
2. Describe the structure of your research article. What does the scaffolding look like in your research article? What are the different sections (headings) in your research article?
3. Using the 7 steps identified by Rachel Dunifon look at your research article and provide 1-2 sentences that identify what is in your research article. Your response to this question should include all 7 steps with clear ties to the sections of your research article.
