Understanding processes of ethno-racialization is a cornerstone of social scientific inquiry and a defining concern in society today. In North America some of the earliest manifestations of these processes appeared in efforts to study and colonize American Indians. They continue to influence Native American life today. But, what were these processes of ethnoracialization? How have they persisted, or changed? What does it mean to be Native American now and in the past? This course approaches these questions from an interdisciplinary perspective, putting into conversation research from Anthropology and Native American Studies.
