Technologies for transforming the patient experience in childhood chronic disease

Summary: This project will implement AVMR in collaboration with clinicians and staff at Mott Children’s Hospital. We see enormous opportunities with the strategic application of AVMR technologies to the arena of childhood diabetes. We propose to conduct AVMR prototyping to determine:

• How we might use AMVR to transform the clinic to become active learning rooms rather than passive waiting rooms
• How to create personalized learning tailored to developmental and educational stages of diabetes
• How to produce interactive simulations that allow children and families to better understand their diseases
• How to invite patients/caregivers’ ideas to support the development of AVMR technology
