MiVideo is U-M's streaming and content management media service. MiVideo is the University's branding of Kaltura’s Video Cloud Platform. 

Kaltura has an LTI integration with Canvas. This tool is already enabled for all courses. The LTI provides:

  • Access to your My Media library from inside Canvas (Account > My Media)
  • An individual Media Gallery for each course accessible by clicking Media Gallery in the course's left navigation menu
  • The ability to embed and link to MiVideo media from course content
  • The ability to pass back IVQ quiz scores to the Canvas gradebook
  • The ability to import a Media Gallery from one course into another

The MiVideo service also provides the ability to:

  • Create recordings using the Kaltura Capture software application for desktop computers
  • Add content to you personal My Media library from various sources
  • Trim, chop, and splice video segments using the Video Editor
  • Order free machine-generated captions
  • Discover how viewers engage with your media by viewing Kaltura analytics

Annoto Description: Transforming Course Videos into Exciting Interactive Learning

  • Quickly turn passive course videos into engaging and interactive experiences for students using Annoto!
  • The Annoto widget contains several Spaces that provide a unique way to interact with the vide, including the ability to add timestamped comments, write personal notes, and communicate with others in the course.
  • Annoto is an add-on to MiVideo that is already integrated into your course and adds a collaboration widget and interactive timeline to the MiVideo player.
