- Format Canvas gradebook
- Add non-UM users
- Format third-party gradebook

Merge Sections
Use Case: If you have a course with several discussion or lab sections you may want to merge the sections into one course so they are easier to manage.
- Note: course content, submissions, and grades do not transfer when a section is merged into another course. It is recommended to merge sections before the term starts.
- Sections can be merged as soon as the course is provisioned (180 days before start of term).
- Sections can only be merged into a course with the same term (it does not have to be the current term).
- You can only merge sections for which you are listed as a teacher (not TA).
- You cannot unmerge after merging.
- As students add and drop the course from Wolverine Access, Canvas will automatically update the enrollments to the sections even if the sections are merged into another course.
- Contact the ITS Service Center Links to an external site. for assistance merging, unmerging, and renaming a course.

Format Canvas Gradebook
Use Case: you can use this feature at the end of the semester to assist with uploading your final grades.
- Format a Canvas gradebook CSV export to a format that can be imported into Faculty Business.

Add Non-UM Guest
Use Case: if you want a guest lecturer from another University to access your course.
- Note: it is recommended to always add non-UM guest users this way.
- Adding a guest to a course via the People tool who does not have a Canvas account and login method will not be able to login.
- Caution: be mindful what role you grant the guest. A teacher or TA in the course will allow the guest access to student submissions and grades.
- When adding a guest via CCM the following will happen:
- CCM checks if a Canvas account exists for the guest.
- If it does, then CCM enrolls the guest in the course and no further action is needed.
- If not, then CCM creates a Canvas account.
- CCM then enrolls the guest into the course.
- CCM then creates a Cirrus Identity account for the guest. Cirrus is used to manage authentication for social logins.
- Cirrus sends a "U-M Canvas invite" email to the guest to select a login method. Guests can choose to login using Google, LinkedIn, or Microsoft. Guests can also select to create a U-M Friend account.
- Issues with guests logging into Canvas should be directed to the ITS Service Center

Format Third-party Gradebook
Use Case: this feature was initially developed for large courses using Pearson. Students completed assignments on the Pearson site, however instructors then had to parse sections from the Pearson grade exports to import into their individual Canvas courses. This feature can be useful anytime you need to parse grades by section from an external tool.
- Format a gradebook CSV export from a third-party LTI tool to a format that can be imported into Canvas.
- Will trim the data to the selected sections.
